What are my feelings towards Bnei Brak?
I would like to give you a taste of what the city of Bnei Brak is for me personally.
Because regarding the regular information, anyone can easily read on Wikipedia or other sites.
Bnei Brak is first and foremost an old joke that was told to me many years ago. The joke is smart and also has the moral of the mind. The joke goes like this: “Many, many years ago, ultra-Orthodox Jews and Hasidim lived in Tel Aviv. And they went to their rabbi and told him. “Rabbi! We have a question please to ask you. There is an unknown city called Bnei Brak. We are thinking of moving there. Do you recommend?” “You can move to live in Bnei Brak” answered the Rabbi… “And you will see that one day the ultra-Orthodox and Hasidim will also live in Bnei Brak.”
The joke is clever because a hundred years ago, almost no ultra-Orthodox lived in Bnei Brak. And the joke is smart because people think there are no population changes in cities. But little by little the character of cities does change.
Next time you come to visit Bnei Brak, please tell me what you see.
