Low income-earners should consider the possibility of spreading the tax on the real appreciation.
The tax will be calculated for a maximum period of the last four years, according to the taxpayer’s high marginal tax rates under the Income Tax Ordinance, after taking into account the balance of the credit points to which the taxpayer is entitled.
There are other options for reducing appreciation tax. For example, the rates of appreciation tax according to a historical rate for very old property owners, or by offsetting business losses in that tax year or discounts for purchases in the exact periods.
